Some Pointless Worrying about Daredevil Season 2

So we’re not quite at red-alert levels yet, but we have entered a sorta pinkish hue. Some images and words from the showrunners of Daredevil Season 2 were just published online by Entertainment Weekly and they are fairly revealing.

First the good. As I noted back in July, Elodie Yung certainly looks the part as Elektra:

As the article itself states, this Elektra is “very different from the Jennifer Garner big screen version,” which is a great improvement.

Now the bad news. Co-showrunner Doug Petrie describes the Matt-Elektra relationship thusly: “Matt’s a deeply moral complicated guy and she’s just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have. She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.”

This does not sound like the classic, original-Miller-version of Elektra that I deeply love. Rather, this sounds like the utterly shit, later-Miller-retcon version of the character that I despise beyond description. Maybe I’m wrong, but Petrie’s words here are a bit worrisome.
