The Unauthorized Spider-Woman

2020 has been a train wreck, with every day seeming worse than the day before, but there was a glimmer of hope yesterday morning when I logged on to Facebook. I quickly discovered this post in one of my comic book groups:

** ANNOUNCEMENT **
———————————
René Thepass, Brian Postman and Mort Todd proudly presents: the commissioned Fan-issue of Spider-Woman # 51!

Where issue #50 of the original Spider-Woman series ended in July 1983, we go back in time to 1983 and doing the same style as if the Spider-Woman series had never ended. After 6 months of hard work, we brought her back to life with a new story.

If you would like to read this digitally (free), it can be requested by sending an email to: spiderwomanclassic@gmail.com

I quickly dashed off an email and received a link to the pdf by yesterday evening. Having read it, I’ll concede it’s no comic masterpiece, but it is still a lot of fun. The best thing about it it is that it picks up right after the last issue of the original Spider-Woman series as if no time has passed since then and now. (In other words, it ignores the mess of continuity that’s been heaped upon the character in the last thirty-seven years.)

Anyone interested in reading this can simply email the address above and get a copy. It may not solve any of the world’s problems right now, but it is a pleasant distraction.
